I grew up in the Colorado mountains. After school, my friends an I would bike into the forest near my house. One of our hangouts was “Lazy Rock.” Lazy Rock is a 12 foot high boulder that is shaped kind of like like a large barrel. It was around 5 feet across the top. Lazy Rock stuck out of the ground at a slight angle such that it “leaned” against a tall pine tree.
After riding around on the trails on our bikes, we’d climb on top of Lazy Rock to rest. We’d lay there and watch the clouds float by and call out the shapes we’d see in them. We’d watch the wildlife go about their business. The animals were squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, foxes, lots of birds, and occasionally deer or elk. A nice way to pass away the lazy afternoons. One of those afternoons, the Animal Fairies showed up.
Nowadays, I live in Berkeley, CA. I have started publishing short stories on Amazon, and soon we hope to also publish Animal Fairy storybooks and coloring books as well.
